How much of a raw deal were the members of the Athenian league getting, with Athens throwing its weight around and imposing its rules on them? Were they safer than they had been? More prosperous? Were the Athenians taxing them for every spare penny they had and leaving them impoverished?

The UK's Landmark Trust a nonprofit that refurbishes neglected historic buildings and rents them out, Airbnb Style, to pay for their upkeep. Does the US need a similar foundation to save historic buildings, or are we too new of a nation to have a large stock of abandoned/neglected homes?
