Science says we are naturally empathetic but that doesn't seem to be the case. Are we naturally compassionate and empathetic or is it something we need to learn?

Moons gravity causes tides, but how are tides caused on the other side of the earth which is in opposite to the moon? If the moon pushes the core of the earth more than the water on the other side then how can the water rise?
