The US and Soviet Union agreed to have a hotline to ensure quick and secure communication. As did the US and china. But to my knowledge this leader to leader communication system is not there for all countries in NATO, EU or the any other body. Why?

There has been a growing belief that foreign aid has been bad for the development of post colonial nations. This is not a new belief. But was it deliberate? did western nations deliver aid knowing it would stifle the development and this defacto independence of the former colonies?

Today many elite members of fomer colonies maintain extensive ties with the colonisers. Did the colonial elite retain citizenship of the colonial country immediately after independence?Did either the europeans or the elites ever desire this, or were these ties (re)established later

During the cold war many states in Africa and Asia which had ties to the US such as Nigeria and Egypt still adopted socialist and state led development policies. Why did the US not put more pressure for them to adopt free market policies?

In pop culture the French nobility bankrupted themselves at Versailles by spending huge sums on clothes and partying while neglecting their estates/duties. Were there any notable people to dissented? Any Dukes who refused to spend money or stay at court? What were the consequences if so for them?

Why have stock exchanges consolidated all over the world? Earlier you had regional stock exchanges and everywhere you essentially only have national ones.Considering that technology should make it easier to support multiple competing stock exchanges why did this not happen?

Considering Versailles was the De-facto capitol of France why did the various ministry's and office also not make the shift building new offices? Also Shouldn't Dukes and other nobles have build palaces and townhouses of their own in Versailles instead of traveling back and forth from Paris?
