Among steppe nomads, were there any systems to help people with handicaps (poor vision, qualities needed for riding and shooting, etc)? Were they incorporated into other roles or left to fend for themselves?

Given the difficult environmental conditions brought on by monsoons, would Indian armies (and colonials) have called off warfare during the wet season? I imagine even the best means of keeping powder dry would have been futile.

Why do so many history books (childrens, textbooks, independent historians, even architectural) follow the classical line of history (egypt, greece, rome, western europe, USA)? I see little or no representation of asia, africa (non-egyptian) or south america unless I am specifically looking fot it.

Starr's Lost Enlightenment shows it to be a thriving trading center until the Mongol invasions. Why the disagreement?
