Hittite legal code 189 prohibits various incestuous relationships (Mother-Son, Father-Daughter, Father-Son) but makes no mention of Mother-Daughter incest. Was this something they actually permitted, or was it that female-female sexual relationships was overlooked by Hittite society?

After banning slavery, Europeans imported Indians as indentured servants to replace the loss of cheap labor. Why didn't a similar situation happen in America after the American Civil War?

Why didn't the Spanish continue to maintain the indigenous roads of the Andes? Surely it would have been useful administering their conquests and for the horses Spanish society relied on.
