In the movie "Hacksaw Ridge," Vince Vaughn's character (Sgt. Howell) is depicted using a German MP 40 in the Battle of Okinawa. The implication is that he served in the European Theater. Was it likely (or possible) for a soldier to take a German weapon and use it in the Pacific Theater?
