The Pentarchy is the patriarchates of Rome, Constantinople, Jerusalem, Antioch, and Alexandria. While it's pretty obvious why Rome, Constantinople, and Jerusalem were chosen, why were Alexandria and Antioch pentarchy sees but not Carthage?
