To what extent is knowledge, talent, or skill hereditary? For example, if my entire lineage going back thousands of years were carpenters, would I naturally be a better carpenter than someone else?

If there were a planet, let's say Earth-size, that were made entirely of water and nothing else, could it have an atmosphere? What would happen to the water at the core under immense pressure, if anything? Would gravity be vastly different?

If I was orbiting a black hole at distance x, and I observed someone orbiting close enough for noticeable and significant time dilation, would they appear to be moving in slow motion? Alternately, would I appear to be moving in fast motion from their perspective?

An early obstacle for videotape was the difficulty of recording such high bandwidth data (~5Mhz) without a very high tape speed (~5 m/s), requiring impractical lengths of tape. Why is this? What is the relationship between bandwidth and tape speed?
