Is it possible to have an acid, or base, that's not in aqueous solution but rather in solid or gas phase? Obviously you can have solid bases like NaOH, but acids, and if so why are they no more common as solids or gases?

If large concentrations of potassium ions in the extracellular space prevent contractile and nervous tissue from depolarizing does that mean you could inject table salt substitute, KCl, solution in your veins and not be able to move?

As far as I know, a-keratins are found only in the skin, nails and hair, yet collagen is everywhere in connective tissue throughout the body. Why isn't keratin really used in any structures inside the body?
