I noticed while looking at the 1790 Battle of Vyborg Bay between Russia and Sweden that out of the dozens of combatant ship, much of them were Galleys! What was Galley warfare like in the Baltic sea at this time? Was it effective?

John Hastings, 3rd Earl of Pembroke died in 1389 while jousting at the Woodstock Palace, apparently from injuries to the groin. Was he treated for his injuries before death? Were there medical experts at standby during jousts like this? Or did people just have to watch him die from his wounds?
