By going up Henry VII's tree, it's clear that the Tudor dynasty wasn't exactly extinct, so why didn't Elizabeth I allow a distant Tudor cousin of hers to succeed her instead of James VI Stuart? And why didn't they do the same by finding another Stuart who was Protestant (by going up the tree)?
