When making ice in my freezer with an ice tray the cubes always take on varied shapes on the top layer, is this because of the temperature ranges inside the freezer, or because water freezes uniquely like a fingerprint?

I understand why burns, broken bones, and muscle sprains/tears hurt long after the initial event, but why do lacerations/abrasions hurt after you first receive the wound?

The long lasting pain from burns or broken bones makes sense to me however I don't understand why cuts hurt after the initial hiya!
