When looking at the list of aces during the Vietnam war, I noticed that the North Vietnamese Air Force had 3 times as many combat aces (17+1 Soviet flying in the NVA) as the US Navy and Air Force combined (5 + 1 previous ace who scored 4 kills in Vietnam). Why was this the case?
