Suppose I’m young low ranking Japanese soldier living in 1514, and I commit a somewhat serious crime (like say stealing from a comrade for example). If I’m court how can I expect to be punished?

in most fictional works I've seen ricimer is depicted as stereotypically germanic (bushy beard, trouser wearing, ale drinking, etc). is there any reason to think he wouldn't have dressed and acted like the upper class Romans he was surrounded by?

I was just watching a TV documentary about Jack the Ripper in which it was claimed that at one point they offered a pardon to any of Jack's hypothetical accomplishes in exchange for turning him in. did that really happen? If "yes" were they actually planning on honouring the deal?
