In my favourite SF book theres a bit about how one society's lucky to meet another society well they're more advanced, things could be different if the aliens’ planet had had less ice ages. In 1987 (book was written) was it accepted that the IceAges had been a bare to the emergence of civilisations?

why are prehistoric human remains sometimes given proper names (IE Lucy, Ötzi, etc) and sometimes just called "place found" Man (IE Boxgrove Man, Cheddar Man, Lindow Man, etc)?

I've always found it kind of odd that every Christmas "pantos" are still put on in major theaters throughout Britain given how formal theater trips got in the 19th century. has there ever been a significant movement to get rid of them, or at least make them less raucous events?
