I'm given to understand that part of the reason Rome conquered Britain was because Rome already had trade with the island and they wanted more economic control. If I'm a Roman trader traveling to Britain in 75BC how do I know I won't be robbed & killed as soon as I cross the channel?

There's an episode of radiolab about German POWs being put to work on American farms during WW2. At one point one of the male hosts asks if there were any known instances of American girls and German POWs falling in love, the reporter says "yes" but gives no details. Did any such instances occur?
