Why are some infectious diseases seasonal? For example influenza. What is the virus doing between seasons? Is it lying dormant or are there still small amounts of infection going around until the season starts?

Why would zombies need a direct blow to their heads to kill them? Physiologically speaking, wouldn't a gun shot to their chest damaging their heart, thus preventing blood systemic flow be more detrimental and effective?

If I eat 3 lbs of food and drink 2L of water (for example) and engage in a fairly normal daily calorie expenditure, how much of that weight is lost through other processes pre-defication the next day? (urination being an obvious one).
