Would a person lose weight due to an increased caloric deficit due to needing more energy in body heat if they didn't use heating, took cold showers, slept with window open, naked without a blanket, ate cold foods like ice cream, drank very cold drinks and generally tried to stay "cold"?

Is there any chance that, given enough time, another species on Earth will become intelligent/sentient just like early Homo Sapiens? Which animal would be the most likely to be this? Another ape-like? Dolphins? Elephants?

How did works like The Illiad or works by famous Greek philosophers get preserved? Who held on to these? Did these people know that this would be important things to preserve, or did we just find most works by 'chance'?

In the current day, historians easily look back and see that lots of Roman emperors had very short reigns. Was there ever an emperor that didn't want to be the emperor, because they also realized this, but still had to take the responsibility?

How was the condition of the average peasants teeth during the dark ages and medieval times? Is it fair to assume that their teeth were in better condition than many people nowadays, because back then they didn't have many (if any at all) sugary foods that are bad for their teeth?
