The Italian Army of Liberty was a secret paramilitary formed by 50 Italian officers, including Colonel Ettore Musco, in 1947. The men were ready to launch a coup and start a civil war to counter a potential communist revolution in Italy. Similar groups appeared in West Germany, Austria, and Finland.

The 620th Engineer General Service Company was a U.S. Army company in World War II intentionally composed of soldiers who were suspected of pro-Nazi sympathies. The army dumped them at a remote base to perform menial tasks. The soldiers wore different uniforms and were not allowed to have weapons.

General Aleksei Brusilov was one of a minority of Tsarist officers who sided with the Reds. Lenin was reluctant to take their help, but said he might've lost without them. He had no military experience. Brusilov not only did, but was behind one of the most successful offensives of the Great War.
