After watching the first season of Star Trek:TNG, I realized these poor people face death in a novel way almost every day of their lives.How badly would this psychologically scar the crew members? Does their ability to handle everything so calmly suggest some other mental abnormality or enhancement?

In regards to the front page article about moving from a $1 bill to a $1 coin...is there any known science on whether people value a flt crumply object over a smaller, heavier, harder one? Would switching to a coin possibly make people de-value the US dollar?
