In the movie 'The 13th Warrior', an Arab travels all the way to scandinavia and hangs out. Is there any historical record of arabs making it there during the Viking age?

How did we lose the geneologies from some very famous people. For example....julius caesar. The were a very prominent family and you would think that the family would at the very least tell their children that they were related.

We know the Americans came to Europe to help the allies in WWII. However, I never hear about the allies helping against the Japanese. Did they and do we just not hear about it?
