I have heard that samurai armor is glazed red or yellow on the inside because when light reflects off of the glaze it gives the wearer a demonic appearance. Is this true?

I understand that the notion of "global" history is somewhat new. Why is this? Is it simply a new method of thinking, or did older historians only focus on their particular subfield without wondering if outside forces impacted their concentrations?
