If the universe is expanding, then the further back in time we go, the more densely compact galaxy clusters should be. So when we look further away, why don't we see that, in things like the 2dF Redshift Survey and Sloan Digital Sky Survey?

So, 1+1+1+1+1= -1/2. I heard someone mention that you can also do infinite sums with complex numbers too, but I haven't seen any examples. What would something like 1+i+1+i+1+i... be? what about 1-i+1-i+1-i...?
