As the Catholic church grew in power it developed the concept of a " just war". Were there any in the church that the dissented with the idea as they felt it would be an expansion and inaccurate interpretation of Jesus Christ's teachings?

During the Second World War large numbers of women served in every branch of the Red Army in a variety of roles. Not to be crude, but how did the Soviet leadership deal with their periods? Was that even a problem taken into consideration? Did they get any government issued maxi pads or tampons?

Why is it that Islam developed a Jizya but Christianity never did? It would seem easier to make money off people for their faith rather than force them into believing yours and fomenting resentment.
