How did the persecution Christians faced for hundreds of years effect their overall attitude towards other religions?

Persecution of religious minorities and pogroms seem to have been a key feature of European society in the Middle Ages. Was this unique to them? Or did they happen just as often in the Islamic World and China but we just don’t hear about it?

In 1916 Jeanette Rankin of Montana was the first woman to be elected to Congress. By 1920 the 19th amendment was passed, giving American women the right to vote. In contrast, Mexican women wouldn’t gain that right until 1953. Why the time delay?
