When did the public learn about all humans having evolved from Africa? Since I believe it was sometime in the 50s or 60s, how on earth did racists react? How did progressives?

Was there a Jewish district in Victorian London, like today’s China Town in LA? If so, how/why did it form? Where was it? Was it self sustaining (as in no one wanted anything to do with Jews and vice versa? What language(s) would the people there have spoken?
