In the Letter of Mehmed IV to the Zaporozhian Cossacks, Mehmed IV refers to Iraq as Babylon. Did the Ottomans actually use the term "Babylon" frequently, or did the Sultan just use the term because it would have been more familiar than "Iraq" to the non-Arabic speaking Cossacks?
