I see earth tubes for heat transfer in houses. Is there such a thing as a pool earth tube, and if not wouldn't a pike of any material that transfers heat well in the middle of a pool keep it cool in the summer and hot in the winter?

Processionary Pine Caterpillars are a menace. Killing pets, wild animals and endangering children. Currently councils use poison rings or injections on trees. Would a more permanent solution be to selectively breed a few generations with weakest poison then release them into local populations?
