Common portrayals of WW2 is that of people fighting against a common enemy while that of WW1 is about how it changed the world forever. So how come that WW1 had as much influence as WW2, does not get that much attention as the latter and how come they generally get different portrayals?

Modern media portrayals of Nazi Germany's military during WW2 is that of an effective military force with high calibre and co-ordination. But judging by its failures of the Eastern Front and in the later years of the war, this may not be the case. So how accurate is this portrayal?

People like Cyrus the Great and Marcus Aurelius are often revered as highly benevolent and competent leaders. While there were many other leaders are revered for their actions and skills like Napoleon or Alexander, most leaders are often portrayed in a bad light. So were there any "good" leaders?
