What was the general level of awareness of American Halloween in the USSR &, in the 90s, post-Soviet countries? Would 90s Russian or Ukrainian teens ever dress up for funsies? Also, what about other American versions of holidays (e.g. St Patrick's Day as a drinking holiday)?

I saw a documentary where a political activist & former gang member asserted that increasing American street gang violence in the 80s & 90s was partially due to non- or mostly non-violent social/political groups being marginalized/suppressed in the 70s. Is his analysis supported by others?

Many modern parliaments/congresses are pretty theatrical. Depending on the country/traditions some combination of: garish props, performative tears of (rage and/or sorrow), symbolic brawls before signings, etc. are to be expected. Was this the case before cameras too?

How autocratic were the USSR's post-Stalin premiers? Did any try to recreate something like the old personalist autocracy (except, presumably, more rational and much less violent)?

How did upper-class continental Europeans of the Napoleonic Era judge the Scots? Did they consider them European? White? Civilized or not (quite)? And did they mistakenly assume that the culture and imagery of the Highlands represented the whole country?

How did indigenous American religious life in the U.S. change between the late 1950s and 90s? Did the emergence of national-level Native American activism coincide with a reassessment of the role of Christianity/non-native religion in indigenous life and history?
