Suppose you want a satellite to always point at earth. Can this be done if the orbit is elliptical? (I mean, since the satellite rotates on its axis at a constant rate, do the orbit and rotation get out of sync?)

I have read that ball bearings should be packed in grease, to reduce friction between the balls & the races. In some cases, couldn't the grease INCREASE the friction, by touching parts of the ball that would otherwise be in contact with air?

If the atmosphere had double the number of gas particles, would the pressure at sea level also double? Would the same be true at all points above sea level in the air column?

Why do NASA probes/landers have such absurdly short "mission lengths" vs. their actual lifespans (e.g. Mars Opportunity)? Is NASA surprised when a probe outlives its mission?
