Philosophically speaking, why does everything require energy? Why is such an arbitrary thing as a conserved quantity of time invariance so important, that we have to produce it, store it, conserve it? Why don't we care as much about some other arbitrary quantity, like angular momentum or something?

Are we completely sure that general anesthesia actually removes pain? Given how often it interferes with memory formation, could it be that the patients are in agony throughout the operation, but just forget about it afterward?

How does it make sense for chlorophyll (or plants in general) to be green? If the purpose is to absorb sunlight, and the Sun's spectrum peaks at green, wouldn't it make more sense to absorb green light, not to reflect it? Green sounds like the most counterproductive color for energy absorption.
