There is a claim on Texas Monthly that the Western cultural aspect of Texas (Cowboys, Mavericks, Rangers) was not the essence of Texas and it’s culture, before 1936, Texas was very similar to other Deep Southern states, and Western culture was an attempt to redefine Texas, far from the Confederacy?
