In 1082 Alexios I Komnenos made a chrysobull granting Venice a number of privileges. Amoungst these the Venetians were given the church of St Andrew in Durazzo. Were Venetian churches in Byzantine/medieval Roman territory under the authority of the Patriarch of Constantinople or the Pope of Rome?

In a game I played recently, there is mention of old dictionaries putting in false words, so they could tell if other companies simply copied the entire dictionary. Did any of these false words ever use because people read the dictionary and thought they were real?
