Are these sons'o bitches exclusive to hardcore? I've never seen one in survival but in hardcore, I've seen like 3 of them in the past hour

This is the furthest I've ever gotten in hardcore (day 141) and I just died to a golem as I was walking backwards out of a building :( I was one shot at full health somehow. Didn't expect to die when moving villagers. Mainly sad for my 2 pet sniffers though.
