[WP] Every solar eclipse, a portal opens somewhere in the area. If anyone passes through the portal, a doppelganger comes out, and they are trapped in the other dimension until the doppelganger is sent back through, dead or alive. Doppelgangers act similarly--but not perfectly--like the original.
