[WP] First contact isn't an invasion, or a friendly greeting, but some rather questionable aliens trying to annoy a Human military, somehow blissfully unaware of how bad an idea that is. A weapon in the wrongs spot, a random piece of fruit, a stick thrown from somewhere, etc.
