[WP] Earth descends into such a state of conflict that we garner the attention of the Alien UN analogue. Their 'peacekeeping force' is about as ineffective as ours ever was... Humans continue to fight as usual, now to the backdrop of futuristic Alien spaceships with ion cannons just sitting there.
