My dad had an interesting run-in with the South African government in 1985 (more information inside). I am wondering if anyone can tell me how common his experience was or what the motivation for his treatment was.

After seeing an example of a Roman latrine I have to ask: Were ancient people really completely comfortable just defecating and urinating in front of each Other? Do we know of any instances of embarrassment or shame or humor about this situation being brought up?

Was there a specific time during Hitler's election process, or his time in office, when the general public really became concerned about what kind of havoc he might wreak? Most accounts we learned in school only focus on the time in which the situation was way out of hand.
