Why do some languages have different names for countries. Finnish call Finland Suomi for example. why doesn't every language refer to countries by what they call themselves?

Why is the alphabet in the order it's in? A, B, C...X, Y, Z. Is the letter placement in "alphabetical order" arbitrary? Or was there originally meaning behind the order?
