Why do some languages have different names for countries. Finnish call Finland Suomi for example. why doesn't every language refer to countries by what they call themselves?

If the failed German Ardennes Offensive was intended to get the Western Allies to agree peace in order for Germany to focus on fighting the Russians in the East, what did Germany intend to offer the Western Allies to get them to agree? Or did the plan solely rely on defeating the encircled armies?

I once read that when Death/work camps were liberated by Allied soldiers, those who's 'crimes' were illegal prior to the Nazi rise to power were sent back to prisons. Is there any truth to this?
