I can sing on pitch but I still sound bad, why is that? And what can I do to fix it and sound nice?

I keep running into issues with my higher notes, where I feel like I can inconsistently do them on long held vowels, but when I'm singing several hard consonants, like at the end the song here, everything just sounds a lot worse to me. Any advice?
