Today we are mourning the loss of one of our own. An Alberta Wildfire crew member was fatally injured yesterday while responding to the wildfire in Jasper. This morning we stood heartbroken with our partners as a procession passed by.

20 firefighters and support staff from New Zealand are here to aid our wildfire response. We appreciate all the international and Canadian firefighters who travel from thousands of miles away to help keep our communities safe.

A 1.2-hectare wildfire in Peter Lougheed Provincial Park has closed the Burstall trail and parking lot to enable the wildland firefighting crews and equipment to respond. Further details on trail closures are available on the Alberta Parks website.

RWF062, part of the Kiska Complex, is 20 km west of Nordegg and 9 km northwest of Bighorn First Nation. The fire is over 1,800 hectares in size. We have over 50 firefighters and support staff working on the Kiska Complex.
