If a collapsing universe ends in a Big Crunch that causes a Big Bang and subsequently a new universe, is any energy lost? If so, where does it get lost to? If not (supposing the crunch>bang>crunch theory is true), does this mean that the universe itself is a Perpetual Motion Machine?
