With the introduction of vaccines, even if a variant isn’t strictly “covered” by the vaccine due to changes in proteins, would there be enough “training” of the body’s immune system on how to deal with a corona virus that the body would be more efficient if infected later?

If I understand the mRNA vaccine correctly, the vaccine contains molecules that are able to enter a healthy human cell, and cause that cell to produce the spike protein of the nCOV-SARS2 virus, enabling the body to produce antibodies against the virus. What happens to the cells that are taken over?

One thing that was heavily reported at the start of the Pandemic was the susceptibility of humans due to the nobility of the virus and so the body wouldn’t know how to fight it.

In France, it appears that the general advice is if you’ve had COVID, you only need one jab for full protection. Given that apparently approx 30% people have asymptotic infections is it worth having a test for antibodies before having the jab?
