Is it possible for a virus to be designed that infects one type of cell and inserts DNA that allows the cell to create a virus that targets a different type of cell.

If the immune system has no problem with bacteriophage within the body, could a bacteriophage be designed to implant a cancer killing viruses DNA into bacteria cells? (like facehuggers from Alien). Could this help reduce bacterial infections and cancer?
