When asleep next to my phone, I can hear the light blink that tells me I have voicemail. It flashes once every 9 seconds. I hear a super-high pitched sound with a higher spike every 9 seconds. When I check my voicemail the light stops and the ringing in my ears/brain stops. How is this possible?

Would aliens from another planet that is extremely similar to Earth be more likely to share characteristics with Earth-based lifeforms than aliens from a planet that is extremely different from Earth?

If gravity, angular speed and linear speed of earth's rotation are not the same at the equator as they are at the poles, do people who spend their lives living at the equator vs. the poles have different cardiovascular health outcomes since they constantly experience differing physical forces?
