In ancient times I've heard that historical figures "built cities" like Alexander did at Bucephala in honor of his horse. How did a ruler in Greco times go about establishing a city? What did that at a minimum constitute?

I read once that there was a great meeting of Cardinals sometime in the first millennium AD that voted on whether or the bible should be interpreted literally or as allegory. How close was the vote? How popular was an allegorical interpretation of the bible at the time?

How did the people who created the trusts which led to the passing of the Sherman Antitrust Act create their trusts? Was it primarily through corrupting politicians and having them skew laws in their favor, or was it more private collusion that led to these trusts?
