Both Ireland and Scotland are fairly well known internationally, not only in regards to their respective people's, but also in regards to their cultures. Why can't the same be said about Wales/Welsh culture, despite the fact the Welsh language has more speakers?

Does Alfred the Great really deserve his title? Do we only think of Alfred as 'great' because the majority of chronicle sources from his reign were written for him/by his successors, and thus present a bias record of him?
