When he was 5 years old, his father died. At 16 he dropped out of school, and by 17 he had already lost four jobs. At 18 he got married. Between the ages of 18 and 22 he was a railway engineer, but he failed. He joined the army and worked in the kitchen, but then returned home. (more in 1st comment)

The mummified head of Henry Grey 1st Duke of Suffolk 1517–1554 was found in 1849. It was later passed to St Botolph's Aldgate where it rested until a planned conversion of the space into an office resulted in an archaeological investigation of the site between April and July 1990.
